Understanding safari seasons in Tanzania

Green season brings life and empty parks. Dry season brings concentration and dust. Neither is wrong, they're just different safaris.
Season Is Not Just About Rain
Dry season (June, October). Animals concentrate around water. Vegetation thins, making spotting easier. This is the most popular and most expensive window.
Green season (November, May). Vegetation is dense. Some roads are challenging. But the parks are emptier, prices are lower, and the landscape is beautiful. Migratory birds are present. The calving season in January, February is one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences in the world.
Rain does not mean all day. Even in the green season, afternoon showers are typical but mornings are often clear, and that is when game drives happen.
The honest summary: For river crossings: July, October, northern Serengeti. For calving season: January, February, southern Serengeti. For budget travel with fewer vehicles: March, May.
